On Monday evenings, musicians and vocalists flock to Napoleon’s Grill in the Oak Grove community of Decatur. Without rehearsal and sheet music, they perform in impromptu jam sessions much to the delight of an enthusiastic crowd that’s—almost always—packed from tables to the bar.
This is Joe Gransden’s Jam Session that plays out from 7:30 to 10 p.m. weekly and has become of the restaurant’s most popular events.
Joe Gransden, a veteran trumpeter and leader of a popular 16-piece big band, has been directing these jam sessions for years. Previously held at Twain’s Brewpub and Billiards in downtown Decatur, the sessions have been staged at Napoleon’s for the past three years…
