Conyers officer injured after patrol car hit on side of interstate

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Conyers police are reminding drivers to be careful after a car slammed into an officer’s patrol vehicle parked alongside I-20.

The accident happened recently while a sergeant was helping a stranded driver with a flat tire on the interstate, the Conyers Police Department said in a social media post Monday.

A driver hit the patrol car while the officer was entering call notes into their computer, badly damaging the car and sending the officer to the hospital with minor injuries.

“Thankfully, only minor injuries were reported, but this could have ended very differently,” the department wrote…
