Leader of multi-million dollar fencing ring convicted under RICO Act, sentenced to prison

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A Norcross man was convicted under the RICO Act after leading a multimillion-dollar fencing enterprise that profited from shipping stolen and blacklisted electronic items overseas, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.

In November 2024, a police investigation into reports of porch piracy throughout Gwinnett County identified a suspect who said 41-year-old Zhen Ni was the leader of a fencing organization.

Officers conducted surveillance for several months, revealing that Ni and other partners had set up an elaborate scheme to fence electronic devices, mainly overseas, to destinations such as Hong Kong and Dubai because U.S. mobile phone carriers blacklisted the items…
