After a nationwide search, the Gwinnett County Board of Education announced on Wednesday, Mar. 11, that Dr. Alexandra Estrella was named the sole finalist to serve as the next Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools.
The board said it reached a clear consensus that Dr. Estrella was the strongest candidate to lead the district. The search was conducted in partnership with Alma Advisory Group, an executive search firm, and included surveys, focus groups, student engagement opportunities and community listening sessions across the county.
Thousands of students, families, educators and community members shared feedback about the qualities they wanted in the district’s next leader, which helped shape the board’s decision.
Dr. Estrella brings more than 26 years of experience in education and school leadership. She currently serves as superintendent of Norwalk Public Schools in Connecticut.
