SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) – A jury is hearing evidence as they prepare to decide punishment for a man they found guilty but mentally ill in a deadly home invasion from four years ago.
Shannon Gilday was convicted in the February 2022 shooting death of Jordan Morgan at her father’s home in Madison County. Morgan’s father is former state lawmaker and businessman Wesley Morgan.
Gilday could face the death penalty. Prosecutors will likely ask for that sentence. Gilday’s attorneys are hoping for a less severe sentence.
Victim’s mother testifies
One of the first witnesses Tuesday morning was Jordan Morgan’s mother Lisa Foster, who shared everything from the fun trip to the “A Christmas Story” house to the proud moment seeing her daughter graduate law school.
