Lightning strike sparks house fire in Franklin County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — After a lightning strike sent a home up in flames, the Franklin County Fire Department is reminding the public to always have an emergency plan.

Officials said that crews were called around 5:30 a.m. June 18, to one of several structure fires in Franklin County.

Fire at Whitaker Bank in Harrodsburg possibly linked to lightning strike

According to crews, a child woke up to smoke and alerted the other occupants to the danger. Everyone made it out to safety before crews arrived.
