Cleanup and recovery continues after flash flooding in Garrard County

LANCASTER , Ky. (WKYT) – Garrard County officials declared a state of emergency following flooding that damaged or destroyed numerous roads and bridges on Saturday.

The county’s judge-executive said there was no loss of life, no major injuries and no significant personal property damage. Officials said some people did have to be rescued from cars that drove into high water.

Damage along Back Creek

Floodwaters from Back Creek destroyed several bridges and stripped pavement from some roads, leaving significant work ahead for the Garrard County Road Department.

Farmers in the Buckeye area were also making repairs to fences damaged by the flooding…
