Lexington’s new downtown plan has ideas on how to solve urban housing problems

A new master plan for Lexington’s downtown should set the stage for how it grows.

On July 23, the Urban County Planning Commission voted to adopt the Lexington Downtown Area Master Plan. The plan sets a vision for how Lexington’s urban core should grow and recommends policies and programs the city should adopt to support the vision.

Lexington’s downtown was heavily invested in throughout the 2010s. Major projects such as the renovation of the Central Bank Convention Center, the 21c Hotel and the old courthouse brought new energy to landmark buildings…
