William Wells Brown Elementary School kicks off academic year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Students at William Wells Brown Elementary School returned to class Wednesday, two weeks before other Fayette County Public Schools are scheduled to begin.

The school operates under the Promise Academy model, designed to help students improve academic performance. Principal Ebony Hutchinson said the early start is not new for the building.

“It provides us a head start and a jump start on academics so that, you know, we’re making sure that our kids are prepared,” Hutchinson said. “All the work that we’ve done prepping has all been for you and family. We just can’t wait to see you all in the building.”
