Anderson County woman disputes nearly $70 parking charge at Lexington garage

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – An Anderson County woman says a downtown Lexington parking garage charged her nearly $70 for three hours of parking — and she is speaking out after finding others who say they had similar experiences.

Makayla Smith says she parked in a garage on West Main Street, managed by Metropolis Technologies, on a Saturday night last month while out with coworkers. When she went to leave, a parking attendant waved her through the gate without collecting payment.

“I had my phone ready to pay, she lifted the gate, waived me on, and I said, ‘oh my gosh, I don’t have to pay? I’m so lucky,’” Smith said. “And then three weeks later, I got the bill in the mail.”

Smith said the bill included her original $11.66 parking fee, plus a $54.50 fee for the notice itself…
