LEXINGTON, Ky. — Americans added billions of dollars to their credit card balances during the second quarter of 2026, and Kentucky households are carrying their share of the nation’s growing consumer debt.
Consumers added approximately $29 billion in credit card debt during the second quarter, according to a WalletHub analysis of Federal Reserve data. The increase was about 3% larger than the increase recorded during the second quarter of 2025.
