A construction project in downtown Lexington next month will result in various lane closures while the project is ongoing, according to the city’s Public Works Department.
Officials are planning to build a raised crosswalk at the intersection of West Short Street and Market Street, which is next to the northern end of the Fifth Third Pavilion in Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park. Raised crosswalks allow pedestrians to cross a street at grade with the sidewalk while acting as a speed deterrent for drivers, according to the Federal Highway Administration.
