The Kentucky Wildcats have had defensive issues so far this season.
Against the Arkansas Razorbacks, the defense looked a lot better, and many hope this could change the direction of this team. Kentucky’s offense is the best in college basketball. All they have to do is defend a little bit, and this team can make a deep run in March. The Wildcats have two difficult games this week against the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers who are some of the best offenses in college basketball according to KenPom and points per game rankings.
Antonio Reeves has been Kentucky’s best player this year, scoring the basketball as he is averaging 19.5 points per game. Offensively, Reeves has developed from just a shooter to a player who can get to the rim and score while still being able to make it rain from three. Another aspect of his game that has improved is the defense. From last season to this year, Reeves has gotten much better on that end of the floor.
On his radio show, Coach Calipari had this to say about Reeves and the way he plays defense, “He’s just grown. You know who our best perimeter defender is? He’s it. Last year, I would say, ‘Who’s left? Alright, Antonio, just try to stay in front of him.’ He plays physical, hard. He’s just so much better. I’m proud of him.”
