Thousands of Kentuckians without power due to severe weather

Kentucky is experiencing more than 300 downed power lines and damages, LG&E and KU report.

Lexington and Richmond are the hardest hit regions in Kentucky, with the Norton area of Virginia also being hit hard.

More than 530 field workers and an additional 300 resources “have been secured to support restoration efforts,” the power company said via Facebook.

The company encourages the public to report and avoid downed lines.

According to the power outage map, more than 134,000 people are without power across Kentucky due to the severe weather caused by Hurricane Helene.

The map shows that most power outages are in central and southeastern Kentucky.

Officials warn drivers to watch out for downed trees and power lines and, if possible, stay off the roads.
