Kentucky charities get to work helping communities impacted by Helene

KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — During times of disaster, the Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) makes community its priority.

“Once first responders have completed their essential and critical work in search and rescue, we will be on the ground to assist with disaster relief efforts,” said Robyn Rennber, director of CAP’s Disaster Relief Program.

The program is managing donations from across the country, according to charity leaders, and working around the clock to ensure relief supplies reach the impacted areas as quickly as possible.

On Thursday CAP’s Operation Sharing locations in the Commonwealth sent “three tractor trailer loads of fresh produce, food items, and hygiene items to Lenoir, North Carolina,” officials said, with additional supplies being prepared “as long as items are needed to help families get back on their feet.”

According to a news release, there are five locations in Kentucky where donations can be dropped off. These locations are only accepting water, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and nonperishable food items:
