LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Every Monday and Wednesday, students leaving Tates Creek Schools are drawn to snacks and the sound of music.
The pop-up all started after the Housing Authority reached out to One Lexington for a helping hand; it has now turned into mentorship, homework assistance, and connecting families to resources.
“We heard of some incidents involving juveniles in the area. We were asked to come out and engage young people, and so that’s why we’re here,” said Devine Carama, director of One Lexington.
Jackson Griffin is an eighth grader at Tates Creek Middle School. He said he just started connecting with the crew a few weeks ago and it has brought him some positivity before football practice.

“I just come down here; they say what’s up; I say what’s up. You know, I go back to the crib, get what I need for practice and, you know, get some snacks,” said Griffin.
