Zombies take over downtown Lexington for annual Thriller Parade

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) —As the sun went down on this year’s Lexington Halloween festival, there’s something evil lurking in the dark.

Zombies took over the city as part of the festival’s Thriller Parade, during which hundreds of Halloween fiends took to the streets to pay tribute to Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” music video.

“Michael meant so much to me ever since I was just a little kid, like dancing to Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean. I knew all the music and stuff when I was a kid. It’s a legacy I want to kind of keep on going for him. It’s something I enjoy very much that I’m doing,” said Payton Martin, one of the lead Michael Jackson dancers.

Camisha Powell was one of the girls playing Ola, Michael’s love interest in the music video. She’s been coming to the parade since she was a teenager, so taking part in it this year is a full-circle moment for her.
