MOUNT VERNON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A Lexington man was killed in a crash with a front-end loader on Thursday morning in Mount Vernon.
Just before 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department were dispatched in response to a crash on Highway 150 in front of the Heidelberg Materials rock quarry, per the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO).

Law enforcement said that when emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the crash, it was found that Robert Rhodus, 39, of Lexington, was declared dead.
An initial investigation showed that Rhodus had been driving a car that reportedly hit the back of a front-end loader, which authorities said was transitioning from the entrance of the mine area to the loading area on Highway 150, according to a news release.

The driver of the front-end loader was not injured in the crash, the RCSO said.
The crash remains under investigation.
