Mobile Market in Lexington could make new stops in 2025

The first year of operation for Lexington’s Mobile Market was deemed a success by public and private partners. The service to lower income areas could expand in 2025.

Since beginning operation in the summer of 2023, the Mobile Market has had over $100,000 in sales through 72 hundred transactions. It makes regular stops at more than 20 locations. God’s Pantry Food Bank Senior Programs Manager John Rupp said adding stops in Lexington is possible.

“So, we kind of have a cap on how many sites we can go to in a month, but that doesn’t mean that we couldn’t try a lot more different sites this coming year if we have a lot more different folks reaching out and saying we want to try this out,” said Rupp.

In addition to the City’s coordination, the Mobile Market is stocked by Kroger and operated by God’s Pantry. The 60-foot trailer houses a single aisle with fresh fruits and vegetables along with dairy and meat selections. There is also a limited amount of household items.

One of the regular stops is Emerson Center. Emerson Board of Directors President David C. Miller said the 60-foot trailer with produce, meats, and household items is popular with those in the senior living facility.
