LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A young woodworker decided to take giving back to veterans a step further in 2024.
Jacob Hightman is a skilled woodworker who learned his craft from his father.

“If it wasn’t for these veterans, might not be here. Might look totally different, might see a different language written around everywhere,” Hightman told FOX 56.
In February 2023, he started making wooden American flags, as a way to make money .
After some trial and error, he created a flag he was proud of and immediately posted it on social media, asking for names of veterans who might like to have one.
After positive feedback, he decided to give 20 flags away on Veterans Day. But after just 10 minutes, they were all gone. So he set out to make 2024 bigger and better.
