LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A man came to a local animal shelter in Lexington on Sunday to see his cat for the first time after three years of being separated.
The Lexington Humane Society posted on Facebook that photos of a cat named Uncle Pudgy shared on social media in December had led to a man calling the animal shelter, convinced the cat was his, and that his name was actually named Mercy.

“Mercy jumped out of the car during their move to Tennessee, and despite endless searching, the man never gave up hope,” LHS wrote.
Shelter staff posted on Sunday that the man came in with years-old photos of himself with the cat, and team members confirmed that Uncle Pudgy was Mercy.
