HIGH BRIDGE, Ky. (WZTV) — A magnitude 2.8 earthquake was recorded early Sunday morning near High Bridge, Kentucky, marking a rare seismic event for the region. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 3:41 a.m. local time, approximately 7 miles southeast of High Bridge in Jessamine County, at a depth of nearly 18 miles.
The tremor was felt in surrounding areas, including Nicholasville, Danville, Frankfort, and Richmond. Despite the widespread reach, only two individuals reported feeling the quake on the USGS website, and no damage or injuries have been reported.
