Lexington community to ‘wear orange’ for gun violence awareness day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Every day, lives are lost to gun violence, leaving more families in mourning. On Friday, June 6, the Lexington community will come together for the annual “Wear Orange” event in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Every day, 125 people are shot and killed in the United States, and hundreds more are injured or traumatized by gun violence. On Friday, thousands across the nation will take time to honor the lives lost, provide community for survivors, and work to end gun violence.

The event, organized by Moms Demand Action, aims to support those who’ve lost a loved one and raise awareness about unsolved cases.
