LEXINGTON, Ky. — The city of Lexington has been recognizing Juneteenth for 20 years. Several events are being held across the city, including at the historic Lyric Theatre.
The Lyric Theatre opened in the 1940s as one of the few entertainment venues catering to Black audiences. The theatre has undergone many changes since those “chitlin’ circuit” days.
