Fortune cookie leads to Lexington woman’s $50K lottery win

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lexington woman told lottery officials that a fortune cookie was the key to winning her $50,000 prize.

Kathy Bailey and her family had just finished eating Chinese food, she told lottery officials, when she decided to use the fortune cookie to purchase a Powerball ticket using the numbers found inside. While on the site, the Lexington native wagered $5 on Golden Snake Triple Play.

“I almost always choose the Fortune Cookie Bonus,” she said. “I just happened to choose that one. I just hit it, and there it went.”
