Man sentenced for Lexington road rage assault

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -Almost a year ago, Kasey Dickens was stopped at a red light on UK’s campus when a man approached her car and attacked her. On Friday, it all came to an end.

“It has been a really, really long and drawn-out process,” she said. “It was really difficult being like, ‘Hey, I feel like I really have to fight for this. This is not a safe person.’”

That man, Darrell Blankenship, pleaded guilty to assault under extreme emotional disturbance. His felony offender charge was dropped, and his attorney asked the judge for probation.

“She kept it at the highest consequence,” Dickens said. “He got the full five years with no probation.”…
