Homeless woman allegedly used sledgehammer before shooting sleeping men outside Lexington library

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A detective’s testimony in a Fayette County courtroom on Monday morning sheds new light on what led to the deaths of two men outside a Lexington Public Library branch.

Deborah Weiss, 69, was due for a preliminary hearing on Monday, Aug. 11. She was in a wheelchair seated beside her attorney, Parker Mincy.

Weiss is accused of shooting Ashim Heanacho, 71, and Edward Parker, 52, in the early morning hours of Aug. 2. According to Lexington police, Weiss called 911 just after 3 a.m., reporting that she’d just shot two men.

She faces two counts of murder and was booked in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $1 million bond. Lexington Police Detective Jermey Adkins testified that Weiss and the victims were homeless at the time of the shooting…
