UK welcomes new Wildcats, new safety measures as Big Blue Move-In kicks off

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Sunday marked the beginning of a new chapter as students from across the country moved into their residence halls at the University of Kentucky for the first day of Big Blue Move-In.

The sound of rolling blue carts packed to the brim with students’ dorm living essentials echoed throughout campus, while the new Wildcats and their families talked about the mix of emotions they’re feeling as they enter this new phase of life.

While her mother, Tiffanie Johnson, tried not to cry, Samiyah Marshall, a pre-pharmacy major from Maryland, told FOX 56, said, “UK is just so big and full of opportunities; I wanted to come here and be a Wildcat.”
