1 year into ‘Safer Kentucky Act,’ advocates say homelessness still growing

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Homelessness in Lexington has increased over the past year, even as the state’s new camping law has led to dozens of citations.

Ginny Ramsey, director of the Catholic Action Center, said the city is still struggling to keep up with the need.

“We are 350 to 500 beds short as far as having enough shelter beds for people who are experiencing homelessness in Lexington.”
