Court documents allege Winchester stabbing broke out after ex-husband confrontation

WINCHESTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — A warrant sheds light on what led to a Winchester stabbing on Saturday evening and the subsequent manhunt that continued into the following day.

Winchester police were dispatched to Park Avenue around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed. Court documents state that the victim told officers it happened near the Jackson Street and Mack Alley intersection. He told police that Jon Southern, 37, was the one responsible.

A criminal complaint noted that the victim told police he’d received information that his ex-wife was walking with Southern near Jefferson Street and set out to confront them. After they “exchanged words,” Southern allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen, back, shoulder, and arm multiple times.

Officers reportedly obtained a video that showed Southern walking through a yard on Jackson Street around 6:11 p.m., yelling, “Yeah, you better run, you little [expletive].”…
