Hope Center’s $6.8 million wing adds 72 beds for veterans

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Hope Center is celebrating the opening of a new wing in its emergency shelter. It’s called the Quantrell Jones Center.

The Quantrell Jones Center has a total of 72 beds available, with 32 of them being specifically designated for veterans receiving transitional housing and supportive services.

The cost of the new building totaled $6.8 million. The funding for the expansion is a collaborative effort; 52% was funded by federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. While the remaining 48% of the cost was raised by the Hope Center. Chief Advancement Officer at the Hope Center, Chris Peck, said they are moving into the new wing debt-free.

The center provides on-site care teams, including social workers, nurses, and physicians. Leaders with the Hope Center say the emergency shelter hasn’t changed structurally since it opened more than 30 years ago, and this investment is not just about housing but about creating a sustainable future for those who have served our nation…
