Off-duty Lexington police detective helps save driver from fiery I-75 crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lexington police detective is being praised for his actions after helping rescue a driver trapped in a burning car while off-duty.

According to the Lexington Police Department, Detective Slade Klinksiek was on his way to an out-of-state training in August when he came across a crash on I-75 in Tennessee.

Police say the driver had suffered a medical emergency and crashed into the back of a semi-truck, becoming trapped inside the vehicle.

Detective Klinksiek used a flashlight to break a window and enter the vehicle, where he was able to shift it into park. He then grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out flames near the front of the car…
