Fayette County Public Schools budget director’s suspension extended

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Fayette County Public Schools has extended its budget director’s suspension.

Ann Sampson-Grimes believes that the suspension was retaliatory due to her reported warnings of the district’s budget crisis. She’s since filed a lawsuit after being placed on leave on Aug. 15 due to “inappropriate conduct.”

“She did what she was hired to do, which was to predict the revenues, the expenditures, and when the board needed to be making changes to their budget. That was her job, and it just her advice was basically just it was being disregarded,” her attorney, Brandon Voelker, said.

In a letter dated Sept. 11, Superintdendet Demetrus Liggins extended Sampson-Grimes’ suspension by 20 additional work days…
