A gourmet biscuit chain has closed its Lexington restaurant location after 2 1/2 years on one of the city’s busiest roads.
Signs on the doors of Maple Street Biscuit Company at 2270 Nicholasville Rd. said the restaurant was permanently closed. The signage that had once been above the restaurant’s entrance lay on the ground the morning of September 18. It had been attached to the building the day before.
Maple Street Biscuit Company didn’t respond to questions about the closure. Neither did Cracker Barrel, which bought the restaurant chain in 2019.
Cracker Barrel not expanding Maple Street Co.
After acquiring Maple Street, which is known for fresh-made biscuit sandwiches like the Squawking Goat, with battered chicken strips, toasted goat cheese and scratch-made pepper jelly, Cracker Barrel said in May 2024 they were slowing expansion of the breakfast chain. They have about 60 locations across the Southeast U.S. There is still one location in Kentucky, in Florence. A Louisville location closed in 2023.
The breakfast restaurant was located in the Zandale Shopping Center, next door to Chipotle Mexican Grill.
