Lexington native, Oscar-nominated actor to lead master class during local film festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Twelve Lions Film Festival is set for Sept. 19-22 at the Kentucky Theater, featuring a variety of films from storytellers across the Bluegrass.

One of the many treats festival organizers have in store for Sunday is the Lexington premiere of the film “Eric LaRue,” an adaptation of a 2002 play by Brett Neveu. The film stars Judy Greer, Alison Pill, and Aleskander Skarsgård, among others. and marks the first film directed by Kentucky-based actor Michael Shannon.

Those familiar with that name might have seen movies like Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Shape of Water,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2018, or the Emmy-nominated television miniseries “Waco,” but fewer may know that he was born and raised here in Lexington.
