MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (WKYT) – An attorney and family members of Santos Eliberto Beanegas Reyes in Mount Sterling want to know how he died 18 hours after being held by ICE custody.
Reyes’ lawyer told WKYT he wants full transparency from the jail and all autopsy and toxicology reports following the 42-year-old’s death in September.
On Sept. 17, ICE officials arrested Santos Reyes, a day laborer, in front of a store on Long Island, New York. ICE officials said the 42-year-old went through medical intake and was cleared for detention, but was found dead in his cell 18 hours later.
