1 charged in Georgetown apartment shooting

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Georgetown Police Department (GPD) issued a public safety notice early Wednesday morning amid an overnight shooting investigation.

Just after midnight on Oct. 8, department officials announced a shooting investigation was underway in the area of Amerson Orchard Apartments near Lemons Mill Road, emphasizing that there is no current threat to the community, with the victim suffering life-threatening injuries.

“While there is no ongoing threat to the public, we ask that you stay clear of the area and follow any directions given by officers on the scene,” officers wrote.

Just after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, GPD officers told FOX 56 News that Brian Alexander Newman, 22, had been arrested and charged with first-degree domestic violence assault in connection with the shooting…
