Lexington prison guard caught smuggling contraband for money

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A former guard at Federal Medical Center Lexington pleaded guilty to a federal bribery charge after smuggling contraband into the prison.

According to court documents, A. Jade Howard, also known as Ashley Amber Howard, admitted to accepting payments through mobile banking apps to bring contraband to an inmate.

Howard worked at FMC Lexington from 2021 until October 2024, first as a correctional officer and later as a materials handler.

In spring 2023, Howard was approached by an inmate who asked her to smuggle tobacco or “other illicit substances” into the facility…
