Lexington group honored for work to reduce youth gun violence

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A local group advocating against youth gun violence in Lexington was honored on Sunday for its community-wide effort to find opportunities to make the city safer.

Devine Carama, director of ONE Lexington, posted on Facebook on Oct. 19 that the group was just one of many local partners helping to make Lexington a place that supports a bright future for children.

ONE Lexington has coordinated tutoring programs to improve youth education, hosted coats and other clothing drives, and has become well known for its group efforts to reduce gun violence. On Oct. 2, members went door-to-door offering care packages and wellness in the neighborhood where Ja’Zarion Robinson had been killed that same week.
