BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Nearly 42 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may lose their food benefits.
Funding for the program is set to run out if the government shutdown is not resolved by this weekend. With a lot of uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits, the Bourbon County Family Resource Center (FRYSC) wants its community to know about available resources.
In Bourbon County, many students rely on help for food. Just at Bourbon Central Elementary School, about 70% of students get free and reduced lunch. At other schools across the district, that number is even higher.

The Bourbon County Family Resource Center’s mission is to help kids and their families access community programs that’ll help students succeed in school. It offers assistance with after-school care, health and education services, and more. If Congress doesn’t end the shutdown, SNAP payments won’t be issued starting November 1st.
