Ky. EMS department seeks state memorial after ten year anniversary of paramedic’s death

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – A decade after paramedic John Mackey died in a line-of-duty accident, his former colleagues are working to establish a state memorial for fallen EMS personnel.

Mackey, 40, died in 2015 when a car hit him while he was responding to a call. The 13-year veteran of Jessamine County EMS has become the face of efforts to create the Kentucky EMS Memorial.
