One Lexington launches safe passage program after gun violence near schools

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Recent gun violence near the campus of Tates Creek schools has prompted a new community response to help students get home safely.

Last week, two separate incidents happened while school was letting out for the day. One person was shot and killed, leaving some students who walk home traumatized.

Now One Lexington has an enhanced approach helping the neighborhood, starting with a simple chaperoned walk home from school for safe passage.
