LANCASTER, Ky. (FOX 56) — Cub Scouts in Garrard County visited the sheriff’s office on Sunday for early hands-on lessons in gun safety, with some family fun and competition mixed in.
The Garrard County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) posted on Facebook on Nov. 16 that Cub Scouts with Pack 180 spent the day learning proper shooting technique and the importance of respect for weapons. Leaders, deputies, and even parents joined in on the fun with supervised target practice and other structured lessons.

“The goal is to help young people build confidence, responsibility, and respect for firearms from the very beginning,” Sheriff Willie Skeens said. “The Cub Scouts showed outstanding attentiveness today, and we’re proud to support programs that teach safety, discipline, and good decision-making.”
