LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday evening on whether to demolish a dozen of the first residential buildings constructed in Lexington, turning them into student housing for the University of Kentucky.
Following public pushback on demolishing 100-year-old historic buildings along Kalmia Avenue, Stone Avenue, East Maxwell Street, and Rose Street, including opposition from the Blue Grass Trust (BGT) for Historic Preservation.
Jonathan Coleman, executive director at the BGT, told FOX 56 in October that the plan would significantly alter one of the city’s most historic areas.
