LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Chevy Chase Inn (CCI) is hosting a holiday event to give bourbon fans the chance to try a rare bourbon without going broke, while also helping Operation Secret Santa.
Having just received its allocation of Pappy Van Winkle, CCI’s owner told FOX 56 News that he’d be hosting “Pappy Thanksgiving” on Friday in response to the bourbon’s astronomical third-party price.
“So many people right here in the heart of Bourbon Country can’t afford to try this delicious bourbon,” Cameron Heathcoatt said. “Pappy is actually one of the most reasonably priced ultra-premium bourbons when it leaves the rickhouse. Our industry and the secondary market is ruining it for working class bourbon lovers everywhere.”

The 92-year-old dive bar has hosted events featuring Pappy pours at an affordable rate before, but 2025 marks the first Pappy Thanksgiving that CCI teamed up with Operation Secret Santa, a grassroots nonprofit in Lexington bringing gifts to families in need across central Kentucky.
How Pappy Thanksgiving works
Heathcoat said CCI can guarantee pours for the first 100 people in line, giving out wristbands and numbers at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Attendees will then be able to choose from the bar’s allotment of Pappy Van Winkle products at cost in exchange for a $5 donation to Operation Secret Santa. Participants must be age 21 or older. The event will be in full swing by noon…
