A Very Quick Sunday Evening Update

Good evening, everyone. I’m just thawing out from being in downtown Lexington to help throw light the city Christmas Tree, so you won’t get much of an update. After a quick look at things, everything still continues to be on course.

The late afternoon run of the GFS looked a lot like the broader snowfall the HRRR was spitting out…

That pretty much matches my latest Call for Snowfall I put out earlier…

The late afternoon EURO AI snow map keeps on keeping on…

The evolution of the EURO has been fascinating to watch as it was the only model not showing much of a system. That’s slowly changing with each run and it continues to see it more and more…

All of this starts in less than 24 hours but only the NWS in Paducah has issued any kind of winter weather alert…

I asked one of the local NWS offices why no headlines and the reply I got was they were just going to let the next shift figure that out. That next shift wouldn’t be until later tonight and early Monday, meaning they would be issuing the first advisory or warning just hours before the event starts. It’s been a tough year for the NWS and I’ve written numerous times how they need to be fully funded with pay raises. Stuff like this is really hard to defend, though.

The full update comes your way later tonight. I’ll also have a few updates on my Meteorologist Chris Bailey Facebook Page…
