‘Bluegrass Gives’ surpasses $1M in donations for Kentucky, Appalachian nonprofits

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Tuesday marks a big day for Kentuckians near and far to show their love for the nonprofits that work to feed, shelter, and lift the spirits of those who need it most.

Formerly known as “the Good Giving Challenge,” the Bluegrass Community Foundation (BCF) is hosting Bluegrass Gives—one “incredible day” on Dec. 2 for community members across the state to support 234 nonprofits across Kentucky and the Appalachian region.

Just before 10 a.m., organizers announced that Bluegrass Gives had already generated over $1 million in donations.

Organizers wrote that more than $800,000 in donations would be matched by sponsors, with a $500 prize going to the lucky group that gets the most shout-outs on the event’s social media sweepstakes post.
