Fugitive arrested in Georgetown accused in Louisiana shaken baby case

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — Georgetown police have arrested a Louisiana fugitive wanted in a shaken baby case that resulted in the infant’s death.

Benjamin Baquet, 30, was identified as a fugitive and arrested in Scott County on Nov. 27, court records show, and awaits extradition to Louisiana.

He was wanted for a second-degree murder warrant, according to St. Landry Crime Stoppers. The incident occurred back in 2017, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were called to a Louisiana home in July 2017 for reports of an unresponsive infant. The baby was found to have “shaken baby syndrome” and had suffered brain bleeding, a broken clavicle, bruises, respiratory arrest, cerebral hemorrhages, and “non-accidental trauma.”…
