Jim Caldwell’s Forecast | Plenty of winter showing up soon

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The second snowfall of the month is sliding out of southeastern Kentucky early today, and December is already making a strong case for a wintry start. And honestly… this is just the opening act. Several shots of Arctic air are lined up through the rest of the month, each one carrying its own chance for more snow.

As that early-morning snow pulls away from the southeast, a few leftover flurries may linger. Highs only reach the low and mid-30s, and those gusty winds will make it feel even colder. Wind chills head back into the teens tonight and early Saturday.

Our next system may come in two waves. The first piece arrives Sunday with a weakening band of light snow or a light wintry mix. The second wave moves in Sunday night into Monday and should bring a stripe of light accumulating snow. Behind it? Another blast of very cold air. Monday’s highs may struggle out of the 20s, and wind chills will stay locked in the teens…
