Gov. Beshear orders flags half-staff during Pearl Harbor Remembrance day

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Governor Andy Beshear directed that U.S. flags at every state office building will be lowered to half-staff on Sunday, Dec. 7, in remembrance of American lives lost during the attack on the U.S. Naval base Pearl Harbor.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honors the memory of the fallen men and women who died in a surprise attack on the U.S. Navy’s Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickman in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941.

Over 2,400 Americans died in the attack. The day was declared by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as “a day which will live in infamy,” before America’s joining of World War 2 with a declaration of war against Japan on Dec. 8, 1941…
